Drawn in Korea – Voices from a Comic Nation

"Drawn in Korea" brings together twelve artists and key cultural figures to trace the dynamic trajectory of Korean comics since the 1970s and offer a layered portrait of the field.

The first chapter follows prominent cartoonists whose careers span decades—from early popular comics to contemporary graphic novels—highlighting the themes and creative impulses that define their work.

The second chapter turns to the present-day ecosystem, exploring art education, independent publishing and literary translation. Moving beyond individual practice, the film reveals the networks and structures that sustain Korean comics today.

In its final chapter, the perspective expands to Europe through the work of diaspora artists, opening a wider conversation about Korean comics beyond national borders.
