Description

J. P. Chabot's “Voyage à la villa du jardin secret” (Le Quartanier) tells the story of a close friendship between the disillusioned French teacher J. P. and the cheerful Audrey-Ann, four years his junior, who lives with the life-shortening neuromuscular disease Friedreich's ataxia. During a stay in Puerto Rico, they work on the story that Audrey-Ann'  wants to leave behind, have intense conversations and sometimes clash, especially when it comes to writing, inclusion and dealing with each other.

Mikael Ross' “Der Umfall” (avant-verlag) uses text and images to tell the story from Noel's perspective of the highs and lows of a young man with intellectual dis_abilities whose life has been turned upside down since his mother's stroke. Away from home, in a completely foreign environment, Noel is left to his own devices for the very first time in a care facility for people with dis_abilities. It is also the first time he has lived with so many other people. Who can he trust? Who does he like? Who loves him?
