Alexandra Rügler 알렉산드라 뤼글러

Alexandra Ruegler (she/her) was born in Athens 1988. She grew up in Berlin as the daughter of a South Korean nurse and a German archaeologist. She has loved comics, illustrations, and book design since childhood and now works enthusiastically in all these areas. She studied graphic storytelling, illustration, and design in South Korea and in Halle (Saale) in ATAK's class, completing her master's degree in Anke Feuchtenberger's class in Hamburg in 2025. Her work focuses on graphic essays, graphic novels, and comic journalism.

In 2012, she received the Büchergilde Design Award, in 2019 a comic essay was nominated for the World Illustration Awards, and her comic “Koukla” won a GINCO Award for Best Experimental Comic.

Her graphic novel "Im Anderswo" (together with Cody Christensen) examines questions of identity, home and belonging of the Korean-German diaspora.

She lives and works in Berlin.
